Our Principal

Welcome to the 2024/2025 school year. I am very excited to kick off this school year! We really kicked off the first day saying this year is going to be "Out of this world!" As we move into year three with this team, our focus is beginning to shift slightly from rebuilding the culture and positive environment that was needed as we came back from Covid to the work we need to do to GROW! The Berry team, along with the district, has worked hard these past two years to change the way our school looks and feels. There has been fresh paint, the removal of broken down buildings, colorful games painted on the blacktops, the addition of our Bear Den, and other things. This year we will be opening a makerspace area for our students (you can find a short youtube video here that explains this space, (CLICK HERE), we will grow and expand our RISE expectations, beginning building a strong positive behavior Intervention and Supports system (to help us with behavior and discipline),  and we will focus on attendance through the San Diego County Office ICAN program. 

 

Last year I encouraged the whole community to "Be Curious," to ask questions and to listen to ideas. This year it is time to do the work. it is time to get GRITTY. There is no word that directly translate in Spanish for GRIT (that is what I have been told by our native speakers). So in Spanish our translation will be GANAS. We need to teach our students that they will come across things that are difficult, that it is OK for things to be difficult, that it is OK for them to feel challenged, and it is OK for something to be difficult to do AND to still be able to achieve it or accomplish that task. Angela Duckworth wrote a book and has studied GRIT for a long time. (see a short video here for an introduction to GRIT - CLICK HERE). The bottom line is it takes more than raw talent had great skill to be successful. Many times skill and talent fail. it takes GANAS it takes GRIT to push through and find the success we are looking for. can you think of anything better to teach our children than this? (if so I am listening).  This year you will see or theme on everything "growth through GRIT!" I hope you will come along with us on this journey!

Bienvenidos al año escolar 2024/2025. ¡Estoy muy emocionado de comenzar este año escolar! Realmente comenzamos el primer día diciendo que este año sería "¡Fuera de este mundo!" A medida que avanzamos hacia el tercer año con este equipo, nuestro enfoque comienza a cambiar ligeramente de reconstruir la cultura y el ambiente positivo que se necesitaba cuando regresamos de Covid al trabajo que debemos hacer para CRECER. El equipo de Berry, junto con el distrito, ha trabajado duro estos últimos dos años para cambiar la apariencia y la sensación de nuestra escuela. Ha habido pintura nueva, la eliminación de edificios derruidos, juegos coloridos pintados en el asfalto, la adición de nuestro Bear Den y otras cosas. Este año abriremos un área de makerspace para nuestros estudiantes (puede encontrar un breve video de YouTube aquí que explica este espacio (HAGA CLIC AQUÍ), creceremos y ampliaremos nuestras expectativas RISE, comenzando a construir un sólido sistema de intervención y apoyo para el comportamiento positivo. (para ayudarnos con el comportamiento y la disciplina), y nos centraremos en la asistencia a través del programa ICAN de la oficina del condado de San Diego.

 

El año pasado animé a toda la comunidad a "Ser curiosa", a hacer preguntas y escuchar ideas. Este año ha llegado el momento de hacer el trabajo. es hora de ponerse ARENA. No existe ninguna palabra que se traduzca directamente en español para GRIT (eso es lo que me han dicho nuestros hablantes nativos). Entonces en español nuestra traducción será GANAS. Necesitamos enseñar a nuestros estudiantes que se encontrarán con cosas difíciles, que está bien que las cosas sean difíciles, que está bien que se sientan desafiados y que está bien que algo sea difícil de hacer Y seguir adelante. poder lograrlo o cumplir esa tarea. Angela Duckworth escribió un libro y estudió GRIT durante mucho tiempo. (vea un breve vídeo aquí para obtener una introducción a GRIT; HAGA CLIC AQUÍ). La conclusión es que se necesita algo más que talento en bruto y grandes habilidades para tener éxito. Muchas veces la habilidad y el talento fallan. se necesitan GANAS, se necesita GRIT para seguir adelante y encontrar el éxito que buscamos. ¿Se te ocurre algo mejor para enseñar a nuestros hijos que esto? (si es así estoy escuchando). Este año verás un tema sobre todo "¡crecimiento con GANAS!" ¡Espero que nos acompañes en este viaje!

 

Familias, nuevamente, estoy muy emocionado de comenzar este año escolar. Estoy emocionado de saber hacia dónde se dirige esta comunidad y lo que podemos hacer juntos por los niños. ¡LOS OSOS SE LEVANTAN!
